This Privacy Policy describes how Knife Edge Software ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the Glint desktop application ("Software"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

1. Overview

Glint is a desktop application that runs locally on your device. We designed it with a privacy-first approach: your data stays on your machine. We do not operate servers that collect, store, or process your personal data during normal use of the Software.

2. Information We Collect

  • Browsing history or keystrokes
  • Contents of your files or repositories

3. How We Use Information

We use the limited information we receive for the following purposes:

Information Purpose
Purchase data from Polar License fulfillment, order history, customer support
Support communications Responding to your requests and resolving issues

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Polar: As our merchant of record, Polar processes your payment and may share transaction data with us as described in Section 2.1.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

5. Third-Party Services

The Software connects to third-party services at your direction:

5.1 GitHub

When you configure the Software with a GitHub Personal Access Token, the Software communicates directly with GitHub's API on your behalf. Your token and the data exchanged are between your device and GitHub's servers. We do not intermediate, intercept, or store this traffic. GitHub's handling of your data is governed by GitHub's Privacy Statement.

5.2 Polar

Polar processes payments and may set cookies or collect data during the checkout process. See Polar's Privacy Policy for details.

6. Data Retention

  • Purchase records: We retain transaction data received from Polar for as long as necessary to fulfill our legal and accounting obligations.
  • Support communications: We retain support correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to provide ongoing support and resolve disputes.
  • Local data: Data stored locally by the Software remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the Software. We have no access to or control over locally stored data.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. Your locally stored data is protected by your operating system's security controls — we recommend keeping your OS and the Software up to date.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data.
  • Portability: Request a portable copy of your data.

9. International Transfers

Polar may process your payment data in jurisdictions outside your country of residence. Polar maintains appropriate safeguards for international data transfers as described in their privacy policy.
